Mode of action

Aprotinin act by inhibiting several serine proteases, specifically trypsin, chymotrypsin, plasmin, tissue plasminogen activator, and kallikrein. As a result, both the intrinsic pathway of coagulation and fibrinolysis are inhibited. Its action on plasmin independently slows fibrinolysis.
